Did Bernadette have a crush on Kirsten?
People email me and ask in the comment section often, did I think Bernadette had a crush in a sexual way on Kirsten. I don't think so at all. I truly believe it was shear jealousy.

I believe Kirsten came to represent all Bernadette wanted and aspired to be. I think Bernadette really wanted to be friends with Kirsten and she wasn't having it. Clearly Kirsten was right to have some reservations about befriending Bernadette.
Nobody knows what really happened in that car but Bernadette and Kirsten. I believe Kirsten became angry when she realized there was no Bobby party happening that night. I believe Bernadettte had snapped previously before that car ride. Kirsten said something to set Bernadette off days previously and I believe that's when she decided to kill her.
Kirsten feeling something was off on top of there being no party fled to a neighbors house. That threw Bernadette's plan off and ignited a fire in her.
She was rejected officially by Kirsten and she killed her. No romantic feelings, just shear wild teenage jealousy.

I agree. Jeanette was annoyed that Kirsten just didn't want to be her friend.
I agree as well. I think that Bernadette just wanted what Kirsten had; according to some, that included her boyfriend.
I agree. Interesting point that Bernadette was also jealous of Kirsten's boyfriend. I would like to know more about that.
I have not heard any info of this boyfriend either. I have seen the movie a few times. My question is-how much of the movie is fabricated?? Such as the Christmas with the family, her working at the attendance office with Kirsten? When she said she wanted to be a writer and live by the ocean?
Why the hell is Bernadette free? She took the life of another over something so insignificant. She should be in jail. What a menace.
I would like to know what was said in the car to make kirsten get out the car?
Was it because kirsten was so annoyed when she found out there was no party I thought bernadette was weird for lying? Maybe we will never know what happened in the car that night. Only bernadette can answer that question.
Maybe when Bernadette told Kirsten there was no party and she got annoyed, Bernadette tried to tell her she brought her out to get to know her and when Kirsten wasn't interested, maybe Bernadette's feelings of inferiority came out in a sort of break down, which probably scared Kirsten.
This is interesting. A quote from Kellie Martin from 1994 when she play Bernie's character in a Friend to Die for.

That's definitely true! Bernadette wasnt just jealous more like she has mental issues that weren't addressed back then. I would have to agréé hee attitude probably mostly resembled what thé documentary on deadly delinquents was. She just didn't have what kirsten had and she couldn't be WHO kirsten was and she couldn't deal with it. Just some advice for Bernadette you were not cheerleader material and you definitely wasn't clique material. Sorry but things don't go thé way you want and second you can't stab me to death like you did poor innocent kirsten

The movie about Bernadette Angela didn't act like Bernadette, Angela was portrayed as a sweet girl who devoured popularity, Bernadette wanted to be Kirsten and stalked Kirsten, she blamed bullying, Bernadette was bullied some, but Nancy and Joanna was bullied first and at that time, bullied more they blamed them over Kirsten s death and Bernadette showed no remorse, only reason why she confessed she knew they were closing in on her cause she didn't have any alibi. She wasn't popular but she wasn't bullied that bad, not until they found out she was the killer and then they bullied her and hollered stuff at her even though she was in police custody but they called her a murderer when she walked through the court hallway held up signs and called her stuff there. She had the police with her if not they d gotten her a lot worse and down much worse to her. She had so many people hating her she needed police protection from the angry mob.
The authorities were very incompetent not to check Bernadette's alibi. Brainless stuff.
I think she did. She was a confused lesbian.
