Jeannette asks for forgiveness on blog! Brings up murder!!!!!

Here is a quote from January 2016 on her Jeannette Tomanka blog:

"Don’t keep bringing up people’s mistakes, especially if they’ve paid the price. I don’t like to have my past mistakes thrown in my face, so I try very hard not to do that to others. Even people who make serious mistakes that may have resulted in the death of someone (like drunk driving) deserve a chance to rebuild their lives and move on, especially if they are truly repentant and served time. Every one of us has made mistakes, some worse than others, but we all should help each other move past them."

Here is a photo of the quote from her blog:

Wow. I completely missed this originally. What do y'all think?

  1. I missed it also, until someone here pointed it out...I found it very cryptic and interesting. Thanks for putting it on here for others to see!

  2. Sounds like sensible and compassionate advice. Of course she is alluding to herself and the current online witch hunt. So what? Is this woman never again allowed to express an opinion about anything without being subjected to judgement from the mob? Good grief.

Your hateful snobish friend got killed for that. Lord if any of you bitches have children I hope and pray their fathers have taught them better!! 3. Well of course she is going to have that stance on forgiveness - her entire existence depends on it. I personally don't take life advice from convicted murderers. She also needs to look up what the word feminist means, because she has no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I noticed this and found it quite suspicious. She really just wants people to forget what she did, but we won't. And S. is correct. She really doesn't know what "feminist" means. She's very misguided.

  5. Online witch hunt? mob? How ridiculously dramatic. This blog and others are incredibly tame when referring to Bernadette.

A mistake is bumping into another car in the parking lot, forgetting your partner's birthday, or washing colors with whites. Referring to Kirsten's murder as a "mistake" attempts to diminish its seriousness. Kirsten's murder wasn't a "mistake". It appears to have been premeditated.

"Compassionate" indeed. She is so compassionate that she writes abhorrent comments about her murder victim and insults others who support her murder victim. What a shame Bernadette doesn't have the nerve to address people directly if she has an issue with them, rather than writing the same drivel under "anonymous".

    1. Very true. I get some backlash from this blog but I know so much more. I know everything u think I could possibly know. Schools address photos ect. I do not put anything up about her husband and kids. I would never cross that line. When people post phone numbers and jobs I delete them. This is not for online harrassment. But people deserve to know where these released killers live sorry. It's no different then a sex offender. Do we want them released and just slip back into society as if nothing happened in the name of forgiveness?

And another thing, Jeannette is still concerned about what others think. Our forgiveness doesn't mean jack shit. The only people who's forgivness matters is God's and Kirsten's family. Stop caring about what "we" think. She cared so much about what Kisten thought she killed her.

    2. Britt, I know quite a bit, too. Not from the past but what's going on now. I have s question, was the party (the one thrown by her friend's older brother) real? Is there any evidence of that party existing?

    3. This is extremely unfortunate for Kristen's family and friends!!! As for Bernadette or Janette or whatever her name is, it all boils down to PRIVILEGE, there are people who served WAY more time for Marijuana possession!!! And as far as her serving her time and paying the price, BIH please! People with DUIs dont endure their punishment and then start driving again... they serve time, pay heavy fines take classes and lose the privilege to drive ... she did her punke ass 7 years, got out, and is living a good life!! Fak her and her feelings, and anybody who thinks otherwise! I wonder if they feel the same way about other "less privileged" individuals who suffer the consequences of the despair of their environment? Or is your sympathy reserved for spoiled brats who don't have enough self love to not care about what others think of them, or which high school crowd they associate with?

    Absolutely. Don't apologize.

"Our forgiveness doesn't mean jack shit. The only people who's forgiveness matters is God's and Kirsten's family"

I agree. She didn't even apologize to Kirsten's family.

"Stop caring about what "we" think"

She has no control over what people think or write and she should accept the fact that some people are always going to think she is vile and despicable.

"She cared so much about what Kisten thought she killed her"

It's still so shocking and tragic. People should be informed about a person like that.

Meanwhile inside she knows she is different, she knows she did wrong. This is what makes her dangerous, psychotic, emotionally detached, and straight up evil. It's unfortunate when she dies, she will still not have any feeling just left in between 2 dimensions never will have peace...

She was her own worst enemy. She outed herself not Orinda s fault she subjected herself to humiliation and self laughter. She wasnt treated as poorly as her sisters they played cootie tag games about them 2 girls. No one wanted to touch her sisters. The one girl feels badly they teased her sisters and made fun of them. Never drank after them in water fountains kids cam be very cruel the older Protti girls were less fortunate than others. It shouldnt of impacted Bernadette it wasnt her they teased. They may of teased her over her sisters then.

  42. The case is focused on.Kirsten, not Bernadette. Try losing a child esp to.murder or suicide, see how it feels. Not Protti sisters or Bernadette, dont care a thing about them. Mrs. Costas its not in her past, she misses Kirsten everyday of her life esp the fact Kirsten was one month short of her 16th Birthday. Aint a day goes by she doesnt misx her and the Missy Availa case her mom has never gotten past it, those 2 girls got alot more time than Bernadette they needed life to. Losing a child you never get over it, a part of you literally goes with the child. You want to protect that child, and you feel you failed your duty as a parent. You also expect your children to be there when you grow old and take care of you and bury you not you bury them. Mrs Costas is in. Hawaii to get rid of memories, and Mrs Availa moved alot also, hdr health isnt well. I hear not sure if she s still alive at this ppint.

  43. Dont care about Bernadettes old boyfriend, and his bff who waa Kirstens boyfriend and how he hated Bernadette, and all about them huniliating her at the trial, or how her sister s were teased, its about Kirsten and if we discuss trials its about how justice wasnt served. Bernadette should of gotten life no parole. If itd been up to ne she d gotten the death penalty an eye for an eye. You lose a child as I mentioned uts the worst pain you can endure and it will always stick with you. Justice was far from unfair.

  44. People who side with Bernadette if you have children try putting yourself in the. Costas s place what if it happened to you. Would you feel sorry for Bernadete then, or would you hate her? Costas s have everyright to hate her. So you people feeling sorry for Bernadete either you have no kids, and if so youre another Susan. Smith ir. Andrea Yates, or trash that didnt take care of your kids, has them taken from you, or gave them away or let a man molest them that would be a person who d support Bernadette or even like her. Shes not fit to be in the human race and neither are people who support her. I lived by a lady who sold her kids for drugs she was scum of the earth, not fit to be in the human race, she d like Bern and Laura Doyle and. Karen Severson. Missy Availa was alot like Kirsten, tiny and pretty. Both popular girls with the guys, Missy was a senior about to graduate frlm high school only 17 life was shorten over jealousy. Laura and. Karen aren't fit in the human race Karen gets on talk shows goes around schools and all over LA like she didnt a thing wrong. Dr Phil told her off called her a liar. Least she isnt running and hiding from it like. Bernadette is though.

  47. Sounds like Bernadette is a bit of a narcissist and that she can only feel the pain of her own suffering. If Kristin was mean to Bernadette or not, there is no justification for killing another person. Bernadette obviously was or maybe still is a very troubled person and unless she received therapy, behavior does not change.

  48. A few years ago, when her identity was leaked and all of this began, I thought it was wrong and stalking for people to bother this woman after so many years. This was my gut reaction. I thought this was wrong. I also thought of how we are different people in our immature teens and how horrible mistakes are made at that age, such as drunk driving. Yes, I did feel sympathy for Bernadette.

Having said that, I don't feel the same way today. I have a three year daughter and an infant son. I think being a mother now, I see everything so differently. I look at my beautiful sweet little girl, the most perfect little girl I have ever seen, and my heart breaks for Kirsten's mother. This murder was so senseless and it never had to happen. It did not have to happen. There was no reason for it. A sick murderer chose to take her life.

I look back at the movie and how it sympathizes with the murderer. Someone's little girl was brutally stabbed and a movie has demonizing her and portrayed her killer as a sensitive soul.

This was not drunk driving. This was not spur of the moment. This was not an accident. It was premeditated and there was hardly any justice. I can get it now, why people feel outrage.

    I get it now.

  49. I can't feel any sympathy for someone who makes jokes about violently killing another being. Her use of "life hacker" reveals no remorse whatsoever. It's as though she's bragging about getting away with it. Kind of a middle finger to the family and supporters of her victim. Stabbing Kirsten to death is a joke to her.

I don't believe she is religious at all. She must be an atheist who doesn't believe in consequences.

I still have morals, feelings, compassion and understand consequences just because I don't believe in a " higher power". Look what the " christian" did, she murdered an innocent girl. With that being said, I don't believe she takes any responsibility for the murder and definitely should have received more of a sentence than what she got. Who hasn't felt picked on or wanted to fit in, this is not a reason to murder another human being!

  50. Hi Anonymous,

"I also thought of how we are different people in our immature teens and how horrible mistakes are made at that age, such as drunk driving"

Most people are different in their teens, but as I wrote elsewhere on the blog, this wasn't your typical teenage shenanigans. It was cold blooded murder.
It was a lot more serious than a "horrible mistake". Mistake isn't a sufficient word to describe Bernadette's horrific behaviour. Teenagers don't normally butcher another person because the person understandably didn't appreciate being lured out of their house to a fake sonority initiation dinner by someone they weren't friends or even acquaintances with. It appears that Bernadette confessed her feeling of admiration for Kirsten, which coupled with being lured out of her house with a lie, would anger and perturb most people.

" This murder was so senseless and it never had to happen. It did not have to happen"

    I agree. It was preventable.

The movie "Death of a Cheerleader" was based on a highly biased one-sided rolling stone article. The author of the article openly stated that he felt no sympathy for Kirsten and that attitude is clearly evident in "Death of a cheerleader" as he portrayed the character loosely based on Kirsten as unsympathetic and insufferable as possible so others would share his view. He also made money from tarnishing a murdered teenager's reputation.

I don't think there was any justice at all.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi Anonymous,

    I agree.

I have mentioned that on the blog. She knew how the unfortunate phrase "life hacker" would be interpreted, yet she used it anyway. She was asked about it on the visitor posts section of her FB page and her response suggests it has a nefarious double meaning with the winking smiley face.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hi Unknown,

"she can only feel the pain of her own suffering"

    I agree.

The following are quotes from the trial:

“Not many words about the victim but she seemed very concerned what would happen to her”

The detective that interviewed her stated that she only felt remorse for herself and didn’t care that she brutally murdered Kirsten. “Oda (detective who interviewed Bernadette) said Protti was determined to kill Costas if Kirsten did not agree “to be her friend and get her into the in-crowd.”

“The detective called Protti’s confession to authorities ”self-serving” and said that she was without remorse until she realized her arrest was imminent.”

“Asked what Kirsten had done to make her angry, Bernadette said: “I have a lot of inferiority feelings — and I really have bad feelings about myself. I lost for cheerleader. I didn’t get into the club I wanted to. I didn’t get on yearbook. So, I don’t know, I just felt bad.”

Bernadette said "she was really good at blocking [what had happened] out of her mind, and I still am,” she said later. “That’s why I can live through every day, because it doesn’t seem real.”

"If Kristin was mean to Bernadette or not, there is no justification for killing another person"

There is no evidence of Kirsten bullying Bernadette. If there was, surely she would have mentioned examples at her trial which would have strengthened her case, but she didn't. All she could recount was one incident about skis.

"Bernadette obviously was or maybe still is a very troubled person and unless she received therapy, behavior does not change"

Can a person really be sufficiently rehabilitated after committed such a heinous, monstrous murder? I don't know.

"You need to quit stalking this woman! Something is wrong with you! MOVE ON! You really need to seek counseling - this is a serious mental issue"

    How have I "stalked" Bernadette?

My opinions of her are generally confined to this small blog. I don't follow her online in order to "harass" her and bombard her with my opinions of her. Your behaviour on this blog is an example of "stalking" and "harassing". You have written to my comments under different sections of the blog (I got email notifications), called me names and suggested that I have a mental issue that requires counseling because I feel sympathy for Kirsten, I'm disgusted with Bernadette's murder of Kirsten, I'm disgusted with Bernadette's behaviour after she murdered Kirsten and I'm disgusted with Bernadette's treatment of other people after she murdered Kirsten.

It's amusing that you have suggested that I have a "mental disorder", yet you have stated that Kirsten played a role in her murder and stated elsewhere that Kirsten's parents were to blame for her murder. You vociferously defended a murderer throughout the blog, yet you suggest that those that sympathize with a murder victim are mentally ill? You don't have any modicum of sense or possesses any degree of self awareness, which I find perplexing, odd and humorous.

I'm sure you wouldn't be telling anyone to "move on" if this was a blog that criticized Kirsten.

Hey, moron, I'm an atheist. We believe in consequences, you prejudiced idiot. Jeannette is a Christian. You CAN be a Christian and be a bad person. I see it all the time. Christians are not perfect people.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi Frankie,

    "Jeannette is a Christian"

Yes, her family were Catholics. If she really believed in the teachings of Catholicism, she wouldn't have killed Kirsten."Thou shalt not kill" is one of the commandments and is considered to be a mortal sin that condemns one to hell. However, in Catholicism (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) if one is truly remorseful the sin is apparently forgiven. If there really was a God (I'm not suggesting that there isn't or is) and if a person committed such a brutal murder for such pathetic selfish reasons like Bernadette did, there would surely be judgement of some sort and feeling remorse would not excuse that.
Feeling remorse for a heinous murder doesn't bring the person you killed back or take away the pain and suffering of your victim's loved ones, which for them can last a lifetime. If you are capable of feeling remorse, you knew better than to murder a person in the first place which makes it worse.

  64. I know. It bothers me greatly when people suggest that anyone who isn't Christian isn't "right." Atheists believe in consequences. We know right from wrong. I'm just pointing out that there are bad people from all walks of life, Christians included (obviously, with the Holocaust, the Crusades, abortion clinic bombings, prejudice, etc.). I don't like it when certain Christians act like they're untouchable.

  69. I read it. Wow. Jeannette really was just insane. That article, to me, makes it even clearer that Kirsten wasn't a bully. Sheesh, even the skis comment was most likely said jokingly. Jeannette took everything way too personally.

  70. Hi Frankie,

I agree that Bernadette was very, very sensitive and deranged. She appears to have been the type of person that would think that anyone who laughs near her is laughing at her.

"even the skis comment was most likely said jokingly"

I've written this before but it's true. Self consciousness attracts negative attention like blood to a shark and if Bernadette was so self-conscious of her skis and worried someone was going to say something, she should have had a retort or two ready. Rather than internalising whatever joke Kirsten made, Bernadette should have said something back.

Kirsten was so damn harmless and didn't deserve to be killed. That is not a normal response. If Kirsten was hazing Bernadette too much (it appears that they didn't interact much at all), a more "normal" reaction for a teen would be to punch the person in the face, not butcher them.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah, Jeannette just comes across as a big baby. Oh no, someone made a joke about her crappy skis!

Kirsten was absolutely right; she was/is WEIRD. Seriously unbalanced.

  72. Hi Frankie.

I wonder how those who were seriously bullied and know that Kirsten wasn't the bad bitch depicted in the movie "Death of a Cheerleader" feel about Bernadette feeling victimised over one silly comment, or that she killed Kirsten because she felt victimised by Kirsten not taking kindly to Bernadette lying to her in order to lure her out of her house alone?

  75. Hi Purple haze,

I was severely bullied from seventh grade on up through the first couple years of high school. It was ACTUAL bullying, like being jumped, being threatened, being verbally/emotionally and physically abused.

To me, it just makes it extremely laughable that Bernadette thought ONE SARCASTIC comment about her shitty skis was so awful. She obviously had no idea at all what it was like to be truly bullied. She just wanted to make excuses for committing an unprovoked, grisly murder. The last thing I wanted to do with my bullies was spend time with them. Had Kirsten really bullied her, Bernadette would not have tried to become her friend. She wanted to use Kirsten to climb the social ladder, that's all. When Kirsten didn't give her her way, she brutally murdered her. Bernadette's "bullying" was a joke and a lie. As someone who really suffered from bullying, I am personally offended that she tried to pass what Kirsten did off as bullying.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi Frankie,

    Sorry you went through that.

I know we all have different levels of sensitivity, but Bernadette appears to have been over sensitive to a ridiculous degree. She reminds me of something that happened a few years ago: I came across an old friend of mine who was working at a hotel desk and we were reminiscing about the past and laughing (laughing a bit loud at times). We were then interrupted by a very pissed off looking woman who was standing nearby and she demanded to know why we were laughing at her!? She mistakenly thought she was the subject of our hysterics. Bernadette reminded me of that woman and it really doesn't take much to trigger such a self-conscious, paranoid uber sensitive person.

"She just wanted to make excuses for committing an unprovoked, grisly murder"

I agree. Kirsten's reaction was perfectly understandable and justified when she discovered Bernadette lied to get her out of her house alone. Most people would have reacted like Kirsten. I don't think many people would respond well to discovering that someone they barely knew concocted a plan to get them out of their house alone by using their sorority as a ruse.

" Had Kirsten really bullied her, Bernadette would not have tried to become her friend"

Exactly. Surely bully victims hate the sight of their bullies and do whatever they can to avoid crossing paths with them.

"She wanted to use Kirsten to climb the social ladder, that's all"

Yes, she was using her and Kirsten probably caught on to that.

"Bernadette's "bullying" was a joke and a lie"

    I agree.

Thank you for sharing that about your past. I hope things are better for you now. Bernadette wan't a victim of Kirsten, she was a victim of herself. Her inadequacies were self created. What a shame Bernadette's parents didn't understand how dangerous she was. She might have benefited from spending time in a Psychiatric facility and Kristen's murder may not have occurred.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hi Purple haze,

Thank you! I just think it's terrible that Kirsten has been painted a "bully" because of ONE JOKING COMMENT. All because Bernadette wanted people to think she had some sick justification for murdering Kirsten in cold blood. It makes me ill to think of. People need to know that that is not the truth, and that Kirsten never bullied Bernadette.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hi Frankie,

    You're welcome.

"ll because Bernadette wanted people to think she had some sick justification for murdering Kirsten in cold blood"

That's what appears to have happened. It is sickening, very sickening.

"People need to know that that is not the truth, and that Kirsten never bullied Bernadette"

Hopefully this website will help with that if people are patient enough to trawl through the "arguments".

I know bullying comes in different forms, but it appears that Kirsten didn't interact very much at all with Bernadette. Also, if there was evidence of Kirsten bullying Bernadette, she would have given examples at her trial which would have strengthened her case and possibly portrayed her as a sympathetic character, which might have resulted in a shorter sentence (They knew the maximum she could serve was nine years). Why deliberately refrain from giving examples if doing so could have lead to a first degree murder conviction? If Bernadette was charged with first degree murder, it's highly possible she would have had to serve her full nine year sentence, so it doesn't make sense that she would withhold information.

It’s farcical and asinine to attribute one comment about skis to bullying, or to suggest that Kirsten's reaction to Bernadette was bullying when she discovered that Bernadette deceived her in order to lure her out of her house alone, or to suggest that Kirsten's reaction to Bernadette was bullying when she understandably didn't take kindly to Bernadette stalking her all the way to her house.
I'll give an example of bullying. When I was a teen there was a horrible individual who was very stocky, tall and strong for his age and he was physically violent, either with his fists, a hammer or a bicycle chain. A "tame" example of his bullying was when he put a dog collar on a harmless guy and "walked" the harmless guy on his knees in the rain through deep, wet, rain sodden mud. He also threatened the harmless guy with a knife to bark like a dog while he was being walked. Have you ever read Stephen's King's "IT"? The bully was seriously eerily similar to Henry Bowers. He was big, angry, impulsive, moronic and unpredictable which scared people. It's disgraceful that Kirsten was portrayed as Bernadette's bully and vilified as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I have no sympathy for new improved Bernadette Protti. She can change her name but it does not change who she is. I don't care about her new identity. We were all teens once upon a time and for many life was not easy. It is no excuse to kill. She plotted this, had the handy dandy 12' knife in the car, and arranged to meet Kristin. The poor girl almost got away. Now Bernadette gets to go on with her life and Kristin has none. She was old enough to know better. Both her parents were religious and must have imparted some sense of right and wrong to their daughter. She lied thru her teeth to the detectives and gave it her all believing she would get away with murder. Her excuses for doing this are lame beyond belief. A big thank you to the person who discovered her fake ID. Investigation/Discovery did a good job reminding us of what all happened back in the day. Anyone to young to not remember is getting a birds eye view of it now. You can run Bernadette, but you cannot hide.

  85. Hi Anonymous,

As I wrote to you elsewhere:

"This whole mess" (Bernadette murdering Kirsten) was not because "of the Miramonte and the Bob o links. Bernadette was dangerously sick with an inferiority complex and suffered from jealously issues, which must have been quit severe as she was receiving counselling for it. As I wrote elsewhere on the blog: "the pressure to "fit in", "look a certain way" and the pressure to succeed is universal and is/was not unique to Miramonte and Orinda, and it certainly should not be used as a scapegoat to explain away Bernadette's dangerous mental instability and inferiority complex.

I lived in two different countries when I was a teenager (one was literally on the other side of the world from the other -- southern hemisphere to northern hemisphere) and "fitting in" and "looking a certain way" was also something teenagers went through and do you know how many people murdered someone else as a result of it? 0!

Yes, I do judge murderers. I will always judge those that kill in cold blood, especially someone like Bernadette who appears to have killed Kirsten because her odd behaviour to lure Kirsten out of her house under false pretences was called "weird". It was indeed weird .

    1. I am not sure. When I was a teen, a girl by the name of Anissa Jones went to my rival school. My mom taught at that school and knew Anissa. In fact, Anissa was known city wide. The Jones was family, apparently, made their living by being litigious. Perhaps, that is why Anissa was a bully.
If the school tried to expel her for behavioral issues, her parents might have come up with a way to sue.
If Anissa bruised her knuckles punching another student, her parents might have come up with a way to sue.

One day after school, Anissa was riding her bike in the middle of a Main Street. The theory is that she would allow herself to get hit by a car so her parents could sue. Anissa was indeed struck by a car. Unfortunately, she did not survive. Some saw this incident as a poetic justice of sorts. Her parents did try to sue but, the courts saw no case.

How Anissa Jones' story pertains to this thread, I have no idea. Thus, my reasoning for posing the question.

  91. You left out something in the Anissa Jones story. Every year on Halloween night at precisely 1/6th past 10 o'clock, it is stated that Anissa haunts the road she was knocked down on and those that dare to venture down that road feel an invisible presence twisting their nipples so hard that they actually come off, they feel ghoulish indian burns that leaves a permanent imprint of 666, and the malignant tyrant also subjects her victims to atomic wedgies that are so rough that it makes the victims balls retract into their body and pop out of their mouth. Ghost bullies are such bastards!

"The most recent airing of the story of Kirsten Costas gave the impression that she and Bernadette were part of the same group. You have made statements to the contrary. From where is your information coming?"

By the same group, do you mean were they friends?

Different articles. However, I would also take them with a grain of salt. Comments from classmates suggested that Kirsten and Bernadette were not friends. However, it was also suggested that Bernadette wasn't the socially inept misfit portrayed in the movie.
One can come to the conclusion themselves how friendly Bernadette and Kirsten really were if they just think about what happened.
If Bernadette and Kirsten were friends, Bernadette surely wouldn't have felt the need to concoct a plan to lure Kirsten out of her house under false pretences. As you know, friends don't do that.

There hasn't been any mention of whether or not Bernadette was suffering from a Psychiatric disorder as I suppose jealously, feeling scorned after not making the cheerleading squad, and blaming Miramonte staff and students for the competitive climate at the school just makes for a juicer article. Bernadette was receiving counselling, which was apparently an unusual thing it the 80's. The girl clearly had problems which resulted in the brutal murder of Kirsten.

There is always a TV tuned to the ID channel in my house. A spot for the series The 80's: The Deadliest Decade came on. When a picture of Kirsten appeared, I immediately recognized her. Growing up during the 80's in SoCal, I heard about Kirsten's death. Hers was the one that forced us to realize that murder can happen to anyone; even in our own front yards (or our neighbors). Since watching the show on ID, there are questions for which I have been trying to find the answers.

  98. Hi Stef,

Are you having a nice weekend? I'm having such a jolly good weekend. The rugby team I support clinched a tense, nail biting win at the death (just at the 80th min mark, which is the end of the match) against very tough opposition. It was an enthralling, fast paced game full of heart racing suspense! It was such a jolly good show, Stef, such a jolly good, smashing show! Have you ever watched a rugby match? (European or southern hemisphere). You should. It might be a nice change from American sports. As you are from beautiful California, what do you think of the San Francisco Giants? A friend of mine is crazy about them.

"Well, my question appears directly below the comment I was referencing - at least in the thread I am seeing"

It's 12 or 13 comments above your comment on the blog. Where else can this thread be read?

"There is always a TV tuned to the ID channel in my house"

Always? Well, Steff, I'm sure you keep a watchful eye on the TVs because if it is anything like ID Europe, it airs a lot of violent, distressing and intense documentaries that are much too mature for younger eyes.

"Hers was the one that forced us to realize that murder can happen to anyone; even in our own front yards (or our neighbors)"

Indeed. However, I think the general response would be "that would never happen to me" or "that could never happen to me". Death is like a disconcerting, formidable shadow that lurks in the recesses of a person's mind because contemplating it's inevitability evokes fear and discomfort.

Whilst death is unavoidable, I think dying at the hands of someone else must be one of the worst ways to die, especially being subjected to a frenzied knife attack like Kirsten was subjected to. Stabbing is so personal. Bernadette would have seen the pain and anguish in Kirsten's eyes and the fear and shock in Kirsten's face. She would have smelled Kirsten's blood. She continued to stab Kirsten when Kirsten was struggling on the ground with stab wounds to her stomach. Bernadette could then block such a horrific murder out of her mind.

Have you read any articles about this case?

"why put up a facebook and refer to herself as a life hacker"

I have mentioned this many times on the blog, but she is an intelligent women and she must have realised how the unfortunate phrase "life hacker" would be interpreted, yet she used it anyway. She was asked about it on the visitor posts section of her FB page and her response suggests she is mocking Kirsten's murder.

I didn't mean to come across as telling you what to do when I wrote "it's best not to mention Bernadette's daughter" as your comment was fairly harmless. If what you wrote is true, I imagine it is probably difficult for Bernadette to block Kirsten's murder out of her mind like she could when she was a teenager.

  100. Hi Tasha,

I'm not so sure they were friends. A friend wouldn't feel the need to fabricate a story about a sorority dinner in order lure the friend out of their house. I think they were acquaintances at best. I'm sure Bernadette's jail sentence was such a kick in the proverbials for Kirsten's loved ones.

I agree that Bernadette was never a victim.

"If that was my daughter I too would be guilty of same crime cause I would hunt your ass down"

"There was no excuse in the world that can't justify her stabbing a girl in the chest many times with a butcher knife?"

No, there absolutely was not. Why did she do it? We can only speculate, but it appears that Kirsten was pissed off that Bernadette lured her out of her house under false pretences and it seems that she was put off by Bernadette's desperation to get to know her. Bernadette's desperation might have come across as something sexual and alarmed Kirsten.

Bernadette didn't just stab Kirsten, but she sliced her inflicting her with wounds that were two feet long.

"she blames for her self esteem."

Yes. Bernadette said that she had a lot of "inferiority feelings" and Kirsten represented what she failed to achieve. Bernadette failed to see the positives in her life and she appears to have had an unhealthy obsession with Kirsten.

" I remember high school it's brutal and hard"

High school is challenging for everyone. I'm sure Kirsten had her challenges too, but Bernadette appears to have looked at her in a "grass is always greener on the other side" kind of way.

"She sick able to act as she is torn about the murder and play along with it for months"

Bernadette was so detached from killing Kirsten that she was able to attend Kirsten's funeral and to be in the presence of and be able to look at Kirsten’s family. Bernadette was so detached from killing Kirsten that she was able to discuss Kirsten's murder in class with classmates, some of which included Kirsten's friends. Bernadette was so detached from killing Kirsten that she was able to watch as two innocent girls were blamed for Kirsten's murder. Bernadette was so detached from killing Kirsten that her behaviour was reported to not have changed after she killed Kirsten (She was described as her usual smiley self)

" As you see her social media accounts now it's confirmed what demon she truly is"

It looks like she is really trying to portray herself as a wholesome wife and mother.

" it was premetidated the moment you followed her home"

    I agree with that.

She was reported to have been a good student that fit in fine, so I don't think she was a failure. It appears that she thought she was a failure, which is why Kirsten seems to have been the focus of her obsession. I agree that Bernadette appears to have been jealous and insecure.

I think most people would have been pissed of if an acquaintance concocted a ruse to lure them out of their house.

It's terrible that "Stacey Lockwood" was deliberately written to be so unlikable and insufferable, so the audience would feel sympathy for the "Angela Delvecchio" character loosely based on Bernadette. Randall Sullivan (who wrote the Rolling Stone article and script for "Death of a Cheerleader") stated he identified with Bernadette and didn't feel sorry for Kirsten. Bernadette did well in school academically, had plenty of friends, her close friends genuinely cared about her and she was described as ” popular in her own way, so what exactly did Randall identify with?? A teenage girl's jealousy issues and inferiority complex? That's quite an unusual revelation there, Mr Sullivan.

"at one of the school reunions you woulda got a different more mature Costas"

A lot of people grow up, so I think that was highly likely.

I still find it shocking that Bernadette murdered Kirsten over something so stupid.

I don't think she gave/gives a fudge that she killed Kirsten.

If she was truly remorseful, why would she refer to herself as a "life hacker"? What does her answer to the question "lifehacker. What does that mean to you?" suggest about her? If someone close to her is running the FB page on her behalf, I don't believe they didn't realise how a murderer describing herself as a "life hacker" would come across, unless you mentally deficient.

  114. Hi Anonymous, Feb 5,

I would appreciate if you could point out examples of people being "bullies".

"Leave her be! All you are proving is that all of you are nothing but spightful, monsterous, ugly trolls!"

Is it spiteful, monstrous and ugly to sympathise with a teenager murder victim? You have a very skewed perception of what's spiteful, monstrous and ugly.

It's spiteful, monstrous and ugly to kill a person because they understandably didn't appreciated being lured out of their house under false pretences and lied to. Adults would not respond well to being lured out of their house under false pretences, let alone a teenage girl.

It was monstrous that Bernadette stalked Kirsten to her house and subjected her to a frenzied knife attack, inflicting her with two wounds that were 2 feet long! Bernadette would have seen the pain and anguish in Kirsten's eyes and the fear and shock in Kirsten's face, yet she continued to stab Kirsten when Kirsten was struggling on the ground screaming from stab wounds to her stomach. Bernadette could then block such a horrific murder out of her mind.

"Lord if any of you bitches have children I hope and pray their fathers have taught them better!! I pray they dont fall into someone who does them like you have that woman"

Children have a better chance with parents who can feel and express empathy and can sympathise with murder victims, rather than individuals like you who supports a murderer, vilifies her innocent murder victim and hurls insults like a petulant woman-child.

    ReplyDelete
  120. 7 years is nothing for murder and I also believe the whole thing was premeditated.
Bernadette was a selfish viscious bitch to kill Kirsten for such stupid trivial reasons.

I also agree that she thinks she has served her time by doing a piddly 7year sentence in a comfortable institute. I'm sure she lives with it all by deluding herself that she was the real victim even though there is no evidence of her being a victim of Kirsten.
She should have been thrown on adult jail when she became an adult at 18. A person who murders in cold blood is filth.

But what else can be expected from a person who thinks it's acceptable to pretend to be Kirsten's mother and harass Bernadette on her Facebook page.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hi Deanna,

You wrote a similar comment elsewhere and wrote that you believed the movie was true.

I'm just going to copy and paste what I wrote to you under another article.

You appear to be a teenage girl, so I’ll try not to be rude.

At the beginning of the movie (Death of a Cheerleader) it states: This story is inspired by true events and certain scenes and events were dramatized. That means the story isn’t factual. It’s a dramatized account of what happened. The characters in the movie loosely based on Kirsten and Bernadette are just movie characters.

If Kirsten did bully Bernadette, why didn’t Bernadette mention it at her trial and give examples? It might have strengthened her case, which would have affected her sentence, which would then affect her chances of parole. It wouldn’t make sense not to mention something important like that, so no, I don’t believe that Kirsten bullied Bernadette.

Do you think she should have been killed because she didn't want to befriend Bernadette? Everyone has a right to choose who they want to be friends with. Bernadette used the sorority (the bobbies) to get Kirsten out of her house under false pretences. A lot of people would not respond well to or want to be friends with someone who lied to them to get them out of their house alone. Bernadette then drove to a church car-park and whatever happened in that car park scared Kirsten so much that she ran to the house of a stranger and got a ride home by a stranger. Should Kirsten have been killed for running away from Bernadette’s car?

If you look into other sources other than a fictional movie, you will discover:

Kirsten wasn’t the Stacey Lockwood character in the movie, Death of a Cheerleader.

Bernadette wasn’t the Angela Delvecchio character in the movie, Death of a Cheerleader.

Kirsten and Bernadette barely interacted with each other.

Bernadette had plenty of positives in her life.

Bernadette had jealousy issues which she was getting counselling for.

Bernadette had an unhealthy obsession with Kirsten.

Bernadette had jealousy and rage issues and was denied parole twice because of her inability to deal with them.

It was stated by the FBI agent who interviewed Bernadette that she had no remorse for killing Kirsten. She only cared about herself.

Bernadette was so detached from killing Kirsten; she was able to talk about the murder in class with classmates, some of which included Kirsten’s friends.

Bernadette allowed two innocent girls were blamed for Kirsten’s murder.

Bernadette couldn’t give a straight answer as to why she killed Kirsten. If she was tormented by Kirsten, surely she would have said so. However, there is no evidence for that, which is why the motive for Kirsten’s murder still remains unanswered.

  132. Interesting how this case still generates interest. It's mentioned in a psychology textbook and also a criminal justice text. It seems that Bernadette Jeannette can try to reinvent herself but it will always follow her. I'm sure at some point some tabloid will do a story on her.

  134. I am the kind that watches true story movies and then look up the real case. This one was one super sad. Yes the movie, Death of a Cheerleader, makes Bernadette look like the the poor girl being bullied. Then you read about Kristen's TWO, TWO FOOT LONG STAB WOUNDS IN HER BACK.. That is HATE. No matter what Bernadette/Jeannette says, she wanted her dead. I can see why this still draws attention today. You feel so much for what Kirsten didn't get . LIFE...and Jeannette did. That one should be in prison. I wonder if her Children know their mother is a Cold Blooded Murder. These Girls are only 6 years younger than me at the time. I paid no attention to girls like that. Did not matter. Bernadette had issues. Who the hell cares. right,. I mean, when you are done with High School, none of that crap matters. Being popular, blah blah, blah. This story really caught my attention because Kirsten looks like someone I know. or did know back then. Crazy. Bernadette's sister, the one at the trial, same thing. I lived in Arizona at the time, but had been to that area in high school. No one should ever forget. Forget the innocent 15yr old girl, murdered for nothing. So whoever writes , people are trolls and such for still talking about it, must be like Bernadette/Jeannette...Maybe they did the same thing. Murdered someone and didn't pay the price for it. Just my thoughts...Peace!

  139. Bernadette used "drunk driving" - instead of MURDERER, She thinks 7 years "served her time"??? If she truly had wanted to "...help each other and move past them", (Bernadette clearly does not as proven by her actions and lack of them), why does she refer to it as a Mistake? Bernadette is always downplaying her heinous act against Kirsten. Bernadette has no remorse and is as evil and self centered as she ever was - if she really wanted to help/atone then why not set the record straight and own up to what she did? Why let that movie Death of A Cheerleader continue to spew out falsities? Why doesn't she go on national tv and tell the truth for Kirsten's family's sake??? Bernadette is still the evil, cold-hearted, selfish, insecure and manipulative, pity seeker whose whole life is a sham! Bernadette knows darn well that is she were ever to tell the truth of what she actually did to Kirsten and why - that everyone would indeed hate her and Bernadette thinks she lives in a safe, little bubble of denial - Wrong! Bernadette can't escape her own skin, she can't run away from herself! She blocks it out because she is dead inside and cares only about herself. It's not enough for Bernadette to have her life and her freedom - she lacks the courage to take responsibility for what she did and set the record straight as proven by that movie which is all based on Bernadette's lies and Bernadette does NOT have the courage or the decency to do the right thing because Kirsten was never the bully - Bernadette was always the Bully - a Stalker and became the MURDERER !! It is always about Bernadette - she even uses her own family! At least 1 person, if not more, in Bernadette's family knew what she did that night she slaughtered Kirsten and it wasn't just Bernadette who "feigned ignorance" those 6 long months until the gig was up!!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Was Kirsten murdered out of jealously or did Bernadette make a pass at her and got rejected?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Hi Anonymous,

Bernadette was jealous of Kirsten. Bernadette's father stated that Bernadette had issues with jealousy. It was reported that a reason Bernadette was denied parole twice was because of her inability to deal with jealousy and rage issues. Bernadette admitted that she had an inferiority complex. I think she killed Kirsten because Kirsten thought she was a lesbian and had a crush on her. However, I think Bernadette was going to kill Kirsten anyway if she didn't want to befriend her.

I think one of the two following scenarios happened:

Bernadette lured Kirsten out of her house under the pretence of going to a party (there really was a party that night). When Kirsten discovered it was Bernadette waiting in the car for her, she told Bernadette she knew there wasn’t a bobby initiation dinner (Bernadette said Kirsten knew there wasn’t an initiation dinner in her FBI interview). I think Bernadette told Kirsten she was going to the party and told her she would take her, but told her she wanted go the church car-park first. She drove to the church car-park and had weed in a futile attempt to impress Kirsten, but Kirsten wasn’t interested (It was reported that Bernadette did drugs in an attempt to befriend people). It then came out that Bernadette wasn’t invited to the party and maybe Kirsten thought Bernadette was attempting to use her in order to go to the party (It was a party Kirsten’s friends were at). Bernadette and Kirsten possibly argued (Bernadette said in the FBI interview that she argued with Kirsten, but quickly said they didn’t argue. It’s obvious they argued ) about how desperate and “weird” Bernadette was to go to the trouble of using the sorority as a ruse to lure Kirsten out of her house to ride Kirsten’s coat- tails at a party she wasn’t invited to. Bernadette said in her FBI interview that what she felt about Kirsten “came pouring out”. Bernadette was reported to have idolised Kirsten, so you can imagine the things she might have said, such as “I admire you”, “I want to be like you”…etc. Bernadette and Kirsten were acquaintances, so it’s highly unlikely that Kirsten was aware of how much Bernadette admired her. When Kirsten discovered how Bernadette felt about her and the ruse she concocted to get her out of her house, she might have understandably freaked out and thought Bernadette had a crush on her, which prompted Kirsten to flee from the car to the house of a stranger.

I think Bernadette had the knife ready in case something went wrong. There just isn’t a plausible reason to have such a large knife in the car.

    2:

Bernadette had no intention of going to a party and told Kirsten that she drove her to the church car-park in an attempt “to get to know” her. Kirsten understandably would have found it weird that an acquaintance lied to get her out of her house just to drive her to an empty car-park at night to “get to know her”. Friendship is a two way street and Bernadette’s desperation and attempting to force a friendship obviously would not have endeared her to Kirsten. Kirsten was possibly angry and told Bernadette what she thought of her behaviour. Bernadette’s feelings about Kirsten came “pouring out”, which gave the impression she had a crush on Kirsten, and Kirsten fled from Bernadette’s car in upset and bewilderment to the house of a stranger.

  142. Time to move on folks. HS was 30+ years ago and we're quickly moving into old age :) Nothing will bring back the dead and we all eventually answer for our actions. Rehashing a tragedy over and over serves no purpose. Hopefully, Kirsten's parents and family found some peace after losing their daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Kirsten was only going to tell their friends that Bernadette was weird...now we [the entire world] can all see that something was obviously wrong with the girl...she was more than weied! For those that feel that Kirsten's up-bringing or lack thereof was partly to blame for her death...remember that she was only a child too. And if given an opportunity to be raised through puberty..she may have grown to be a productive member of society...those of you who think Kirsten's up-bringing made her 'mean'...do you think that Bernadette's up bringing made her a murderer?
NO she was a selfish brat...acting in the moment...then she blended right back into society...blond hair...rich family...popular crowd...she functioned as if nothing happened for 6 months...pretended to grieve...THAT MY FRIENDS IS THE FRIGHTENING. Beenadette served 7 years of her 9 year sentence..almost one year of every month she lived a lie, pretending to grieve the loss of her 'friend'...

  145. All of the comments above written on the same day in close proximity to each other under the same article. You just can't stay away, Stephanie, can you? I don't have time right now to address your comments or why I know it's you, but I will soon.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Hi Stephanie,

Your grammar and punctuation has improved, but it’s unmistakably you. Why? Because you have a pattern of posting comments in close succession under the same article, under different aliases, continuously reiterating the same comments that a pro Bernadette supporter wrote in the past. You seem to have used his/her comments as some sort of script and you have repeated it ad nauseam under different aliases.

It's one thing attempting to berate others on this blog for supporting Kirsten, it's another thing entirely to pretend to be a former student and portray yourself as Kirsten’s victim. However, what else can one expect from someone who has lowered themselves to such depths that they pretended to be Kirsten's mother on Bernadette’s FB page. Phrases written under “Jay Leone” and “Steve B” have been written under your other aliases. Pretending to be different people and playing both sides is something you have done on different blogs and something you seem to take great pleasure in doing. Why would a woman in her 30’s spend so much time creating countless aliases and pretend to be Bernadette, Bernadette's family member, Bernadette's friend, Kirsten's friend, Kirsten's family member, a former Miramonte student, different nationalities...etc? You wrote in a past comment that this was all fun to you, so why would it be fun for a grown woman to create different aliases and criticise Bernadette under one alias /support Kirsten under another/criticise Kirsten under another alias/and support Bernadette under another? Why would a grown woman take pleasure in berating a dead teenager or pretend to be her mother on Bernadette's fb page? What kind of a person does that? I got my answer. Since you foolishly wrote your real name and posted a real picture on another blog, I looked you up. All I could see was you in pictures alone. No friends, no partner.....just you. It’s clear from your comments on this blog that you are unstable, but do you also spend time creating so many different aliases because you are lonely? Judging from your behaviour on this blog, I can see why you are lonely. Perhaps other people can pick up on the rot and poison that pervades your core. How unfortunate for you.

  149. Yes, we ouught to practice forgiveness wholeheartedly & consistently. However, murder is intentional. It is not a mistake & to refer to it as such is inhumane, insensitive & inconsiderate. I understand she wants to be forgiven & wants to be seen in the light of who she currently is, but she also needs to take into account the longevity & negative affect of her actions. We all do dumb things as teens, it's a given. But those things are seldom ever murder! I'm not saying she shouldn't be forgiven, everyone deserves the grace extended to us. But expecting people to count it as a mistake is unrealistic & a bit selfish. It is God who we ultimately have to answer to, so if certain people are not in a place to forgive her or accept who she has become, she needs to accept that & continue to live her life. A life that Kirsten did not get the chance to live. Jealousy runs deep, amazing how it's the people closest to you or around you that are the most bitter/envious. My sister was killed last year after her 18th birthday & right before her Senior year. I'd had her since she was 15, & I never saw that coming. It's crazy because people lose their life for things that have nothing to do with them. I just pray God has mercy & shows her mercy she didn't show. God bless.

  155. Jay Leone. Tell me a typical teenage girl that can walk on water without sinking, if so, I want to meet her.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Well race isn't the issue on this topic, it's the murder were discussing here. Kirsten and Bernadette were friends, and in the same popular group, Bernadette lost for cheerleader, and didn't get on the yearbook staff, and, she snapped. Lots of girls from that school were not even in the end crowd, there was a document on deadliest decade, one girl tried to be friends with he popular girls, and they shunned her. That's how Bernadette was portrayed in Death of a Cheerleader, but that wasn't it how was. Randall Sullivan was pro Bernadette Protti all the way, so was the movie, it deplored Angela Delvecchio as a sweet wanna bee popular girl who struggled, in real life, Bernadette was almost, if not, as popular as a kirsten, jealousy took over some angle. So if you want to hear from a Miramonte student, you'd probaly have to listen to the ID channel, or, watch deadliest decades it tells it all. Randall Sullivan probaly interviewed girls and made his own theory of a Bernadette Protti based on what the true wanna bees told him.

  157. Jay Leone, how can you say you and the class of 1986 got your wish if Kirsten didn't exist. What kind of person are you? So she was rude to you in public, I said it before, and, I'll say it again, teenagers are a lot of times unkind and rude, you were once a teen, sure you didn't do every single thing right, and girls are catty and show off a lot. Doesn't matter, no one deserves to die. I read Kirsten was lovely and kind, I'm sure she had moments where she wasn't but who doesn't. Anyway I doubt the class of 1986 felt the same way you did she was highly popular, if you still have resentment you need to move on, cause Kirsten isn't here to defend herself, and a lot of students from that time phrase are adults with grown kids and grand kids. They moved on, even Bernadette has moved on.

The only people who need to forgive her is the victim's family but I won't tell them to do that. Not my place at all. I didn't suffer the loss of a daughter or sister. I don't know this Bernadette/Jeanette woman but she's a murderer that will never change. The person she murdered will never get the life she gets. These are facts not vigilante activities. You can't sweep murder under the table. She will pay for her sins like all of us. I'm just sadden for Kristen and her family. This was a senseless crime committed by a coward. May God have mercy on Bernadette's soul. I can't imagine how it feels to know you've caused so much pain and ended a human life. All the moving on in the world world and or forgiveness can't change the facts of this case. Kristen could've been mean or anything but she didn't deserve death. Bernadette made a choice and she has to know there will be a lifetime of consequences for that choice. I also feel like what keeps people on top of her is she only got like 9 years and did 7. This is insane to me. I assumed she'd still be in jail for such a brutal murder. Stabbed her 5 or so times. I'm sorry but she should expect the world to still have opinions about her decision to take a life. In the end thank you to the blog owner for giving the curious info about what happened to Bernadette.
